Registration error: The serial number and product key entered is for an older version of this product

Problem

The following error message appears when attempting to register Revu:

The serial number and product key entered is for an older version of this product.

Solution

The serial number and product key are valid, but are for a previous version of Revu and can’t be used to register the installed version.

Check your license certificate

Check if you have a more recent license certificate that matches the installed version of Revu. When Revu is upgraded, a new license certificate, serial number and product key are sent from registration@bluebeam.com.

  • If you can’t find a license certificate for the installed version, but believe the license was upgraded, please contact License & Registration to request another copy.
  • For help upgrading to the latest version, Upgrading Revu will provide you with detailed instructions.
  • If you want to install the version of Revu listed in the license certificate, follow the instructions below for replacing the current installation with the correct software:
    1. Remove the current installation, if you need to install an older version of Revu:
      1. Select OK in the error message dialog box.
      2. Select Use as Trial or Cancel located at the bottom of the Registration dialog box so that the installation finishes.
      3. In Windows: Select the Start button and enter Apps and Features. Select Apps & features.
      4. Select Bluebeam Revu, and select Uninstall.
      5. Follow the on-screen prompts to continue uninstalling the software.
    2. Download and install the correct software:
      1. Download the correct installation file from our website. Please save it to your hard drive.
        Make sure you only download and install the software edition (Standard, CAD or eXtreme) and version number listed on your license certificate.
      2. Locate and double-click the installer and follow the on-screen prompts.
      3. Copy and paste the serial number and product key from your license certificate into their corresponding boxes in the Registration dialog box.
      4. Select Register.
        Please contact License & Registration if the registration still fails, and be sure to include complete details about the problem along with the serial number and product key you’re entering.
