Enabling SharePoint Integration through Internet Explorer

This requires making a modification on your locally hosted SharePoint server. This integration is only supported on SharePoint 2007, 2010 and 2013.

This is a global change which therefore can’t be made on a site by site basis.
  1. Download the icpdf.gif icpdf.gif (right-click > Save target as), and then add it into the correct folder for the version of SharePoint that you are using:
    • SharePoint 2013: %COMMONPROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\15\TEMPLATE\IMAGES
    • SharePoint 2010: %COMMONPROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\14\TEMPLATE\IMAGES
    • SharePoint 2007: %COMMONPROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\IMAGES
  2. Navigate to the current path for the version of SharePoint that you are using:
    • SharePoint 2013: %COMMONPROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\15\TEMPLATE\XML\DOCICON.XML
    • SharePoint 2010: %COMMONPROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\14\TEMPLATE\XML\DOCICON.XML
    • SharePoint 2007: %COMMONPROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\XML\DOCICON.XML
  3. Add (or replace) the following line into the DOCICON.XML file:

    <Mapping Key="pdf" Value="icpdf.gif" EditText="Bluebeam Revu" OpenControl="Revu.Launcher" />

  4. Restart IIS after saving the change to DOCICON.XML. The service must be restarted before SharePoint users will see the change.

Accessing SharePoint without Internet Explorer Integration

You can also check-in, check-out and view files from a SharePoint document library directly from within Revu without the integration into Internet Explorer. To enable the direct integration within Revu:

Revu 10 and above:

  1. Open Revu and click Settings revu-settings-32x32 > Preferences properties or press Ctrl+K.
  2. Click File Access in the list on the left.

Revu 8 and 9:

  1. Open Revu and click Edit > Preferences or press Ctrl+K.
  2. Click File Access in the list on the left.

Here you can add SharePoint login credentials. To setup a login click Add, choose the system from a pull down list and enter your login name and password. Revu can also store login data to suppress any future prompts.
