Error 1723: “There is a problem with Windows Installer package” when attempting to update or reinstall Revu”

Problem

You encounter the following error when attempting to update, install, or update Revu:

Package Bluebeam Revux64 Error: Error 1723. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action PreInstall, entry: f2, library: C:\WINDOWS\Installer\MSIDDE3.tmp

Solution

Disable Malwarebytes (preferred solution)

If you have Malwarebytes installed on your system, disabling or uninstalling the software should resolve this issue. 

Edit Temp Folder Security Permissions

  1. Navigate to the following location in the File Explorer Window:
    C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Local\
  2. Locate the Temp folder. Right-click the folder and select Properties.
  3. Select the Security tab.
  4. Select Edit and then select Add.
  5. Type Everyone into the Object field. Select Check Names and then select OK.
  6. Select Everyone from the Group or user names list and then select Allow under Full Control.
  7. Select OK.

Once complete, restart your system and attempt reinstall Revu.
