Problem

You encounter the following error after launching Revu 20.1 for the first time:

“Fatal Error Loading Bluebeam Revu”

Cause

If you’re encountering a fatal error when launching Revu 20.1, you may be experiencing a known issue with Revu 20.1 utilizing Microsoft’s .NET Framework.

Solution

The following solution(s) may provide a viable workaround while we work to resolve this issue in an upcoming release. These solutions assume the reader has a firm understanding of concepts such as software installation, the Windows Command Line, as well as writing and running batch files.

Updating your environment to .NET Framework 4.7.2 or later will resolve this issue. If you’re on a managed Windows system, contact your IT admin for help deploying out the latest version of the .NET Framework. For more information on the .NET Framework, refer to the Microsoft website.

After updating your environment’s .NET Framework, you may need a system restart before you can successfully launch Revu 20.1.

Replace .exe configuration file

If you don’t want to update your environment’s .NET Framework, you can deploy a separate Revu.exe.config file to replace the current Revu.exe.config file on each impacted device. The Revu.exe.config file will need to be replaced under the following file path:

C:\Program Files\Bluebeam Software\Bluebeam Revu\20\Revu\

To obtain the necessary Revu.exe.config file or for more questions regarding this issue, please contact us.
