Install the latest Bluebeam plugin for your CAD software

Problem

You have Revu CAD or eXtreme installed but don’t see the Bluebeam plugin in your AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, SketchUp Pro or SolidWorks installations.

Solution

The plugins for AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks and SolidWorks are included in Revu CAD and eXtreme. Revu Standard does not include these plugins, but you can still create PDF files by printing from any of these applications to the Bluebeam PDF printer.

To activate the plugin, first check the Compatibility Chart to see if your version of Revu supports the installed version of your CAD software. Once confirmed, follow the steps below:

Your CAD software has to be run once using the current Windows account before the Bluebeam plugin will load into it.
  1. Close your CAD software, if it is running.
  2. Open the Bluebeam Administrator :

    In Windows, select Start and enter Bluebeam Administrator.

    -Or-

    In Revu, Go to Revu > Administrator from the Menu bar.

  3. Click the Plugins tab.
  4. Fill the appropriate check box for your software and click OK.
  5. Restart AutoCAD.

If the AutoCAD check box is already filled:

  1. Open the Bluebeam Administrator :

    In Windows, select Start and enter Bluebeam Administrator.

    -Or-

    In Revu, Go to Revu > Administrator from the Menu bar.

  2. Clear the check box and click Apply. Don’t close the Administrator.
  3. Start AutoCAD. Once it launches, close it immediately.
  4. Return to the Bluebeam Administrator.
  5. Fill the AutoCAD check box and click OK.
  6. Restart AutoCAD and close Bluebeam Administrator.

Other versions of this article

Revu 2017 and older

Use the Bluebeam Administrator to activate the plugin for the new version of AutoCAD. Check to see that the version of AutoCAD that you have installed is supported by the version of Bluebeam that you have. Click Help, About in the Bluebeam Administrator or Revu to find the version of the installed software.

Problem

The buttons for the CAD plugin for AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks or SolidWorks don’t display in the program.

Solution

The plugins for AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks and SolidWorks are included in Revu CAD and eXtreme. Revu Standard does not include the CAD plugins, but you can still create PDF files by printing from CAD to the Bluebeam PDF printer.

First, check the Compatibility Chart to see if your version of Revu supports the plugin in your installed AutoCAD verison.

If Revu CAD or eXtreme supports the plugin for the version of the CAD program you’re running, open the Bluebeam Administrator to configure the Bluebeam plugin to load when AutoCAD starts.

AutoCAD has to be run once in the current Windows account before the the Bluebeam plugin will load in AutoCAD.
  1. Close AutoCAD, if it is running.
  2. Open the Bluebeam Administrator .

    Go to Start > All Programs > Bluebeam Software > Bluebeam Administrator.

    In Windows 10 and 8.1, click or press Start  and type Bluebeam Administrator.

    -Or-

    Go to Help > Administrator in Revu.

  3. Click the Plugins tab.
  4. Fill the AutoCAD check box and click OK.
  5. Restart AutoCAD.

If the AutoCAD check box is already filled:

  1. Clear the AutoCAD check box and click Applydon’t close the Administrator.
  2. Start and then close AutoCAD.
  3. Return to the Bluebeam Administrator.
  4. Fill the AutoCAD check box and click OK.
  5. Restart AutoCAD.
