Tips to make and edit markups in Bluebeam Cloud

In Bluebeam Cloud, you can add markups to uploaded PDFs from either the Drawings or Documents tab. Once in the Drawings or Documents list, double-click an item to open it in the Markup Editor.

The Markup Editor for items in the Drawings tab has additional options for Punch and RFI.

Comments and Shapes

The Comments and Shapes panel is where you’ll find a list of all the markups present on your PDF. Here you’ll get detailed information about who placed the markup, when it was placed, and which page it appears on. Any markups that include text, such as callouts and text boxes, will appear in the Comments section, and all others will appear in the Shapes section.

Reply to items in the Comments section by selecting them and typing your response. You can also use the dropdown menu to indicate whether an item has been Accepted, Rejected, Cancelled, or Completed.

Markup tools

Diagonal arrows in the markup tool options indicate that there are several tools within one button. Right-click (or two-finger click if using a trackpad) the button to see the markup tool options within them.

The Tool Chest

The Tool Chest is where you can store custom markups that you’ve placed on a PDF for later use. To add an item to your Tool Chest, right-click on the markup and select Add to Tool Chest

The Select tool

The Select tool allows you to move and edit the markups on your document. Click a markup to select it, click-and-drag to move it, or right-click it for additional options.

When you select a markup, the Markup Toolbar appears. Here you can edit the appearance of your markups. The options available will be different depending on the type of markup that’s selected.

Cloud and Cloud +

These tools are generally used to call out or emphasize an area of your PDF. To place them, you can either click the PDF to create each point of your markup, or you can simply click-and-drag to create a rectangle. If you click to create points, you can finish the shape either by clicking on the initial point, or by double-clicking anywhere on the PDF.

Vector Pen

The Vector Pen works similarly to the Cloud tools; you can either click-and-drag to create a rectangle or place individual points to create a shape. If you click to create points, you can finish the shape either by clicking on the initial point, or by double-clicking anywhere on the PDF.

The Text tool places text directly on your document. To change your text’s font, color, size, opacity, etc., select your markup with the Select tool and use the options in the Markup Editor

Arrow and Callout

To place these tools, click on your PDF once where you’d like your arrow tip to appear, and again where you want to place the line’s other endpoint. You can change both tips’ ends in the Markup Editor.

If the text in your PDF has been processed for Optical Character Recognition (OCR), the Highlighter tool will automatically be placed over the text you select, and can stretch across multiple lines. If Bluebeam Cloud does not recognize the text in your PDF, this tool will follow the shape you make with your cursor.

If you’d like to use this tool to highlight the text in your PDF, you can run OCR on your document using Revu before uploading it to Bluebeam Cloud.

Use this markup to place an image onto your PDF. Once you select the Image icon, choose an image from your device, then click-and-drag on your PDF to place it. You can also move, resize, and rotate your image after you’ve placed it.

Pages sidebar

Click the blue tab at the lower left to reveal the Pages sidebar, where you can preview and navigate to different pages of your PDF.
