Syncing integrations in Project Rover

Using integrations in Project Rover

Using the Project Rover web app, Admins can add drawings to a project by uploading them from a local device or importing them through an integration. This article explains how to import drawings from an integration and how to sync any updates with the drawings in Rover.

Integrations supported in Project Rover

  • Studio Projects
  • SharePoint Online
  • Dropbox
  • Box
  • Google Drive (coming soon)
  • Egnyte (coming soon)

Importing drawings to Rover

You can import drawings to Rover from Studio Projects in Revu, or through an integration. Select an option below to learn how to import drawings to your Rover project.

From Studio Projects

Importing drawings from Studio Projects

You can import drawings from a Studio Project directly to Rover. There’s no need to sign into your Studio Project because Studio automatically connects to Rover; all you have to do is select which drawings to import and then publish them in Rover.

To import Studio Project drawings to Rover:
  1. Sign into Rover.
  2. Go to the Drawings  panel and select Add Drawings.
  3. Select Import Drawings > From Studio.
  4. Select a Studio Project, then choose the individual drawings you want to import.
  5. When finished, select Confirm Selection.

Your drawings will start to upload. You’ll receive an on-screen and email notification when they’re ready to review.

From an integration

Importing drawings from an integration

Only Admins can connect to integrations and upload drawings to a project. To learn more, see Permission levels in Project Rover.
First, share your drawings with the Project Rover app:
  1. Sign into to Rover.
  2. Go to Settings, then select the Integrations tab.
  3. On your desired integration, select Connect Your Account and follow the on-screen prompts.
An Account Connected dialog box will appear when the connection is successful.
  4. From the dialog, select the drawings you want to share with the Rover web app (you’ll have a chance to review them before publishing).
  5. Select Share with Project.

A dialog will notify you when your drawings have finished importing. You can also view the status of your drawings from the File Activity menu.

After drawings have been shared, publish them to your project:
  1. Go to the Drawings  panel and select the drawings you want to publish.
  2. Select Confirm Selection.
  3. Go to the Uploads tab to review and publish your drawings.
Attaching files from an integration to an RFI

Attaching files from an integration to an RFI

You can provide additional context to your RFIs by attaching specification sheets, photos, and other files. Files can be uploaded from a local device or inserted through an integration that’s already connected.

To insert files from an integration:
  1. Go to the RFIs  panel.
  2. Open the RFI and select Insert Files.
  3. From the dialog, select an account and insert your files.
Files attached to an RFI won’t appear drawings in the Drawings panel.

If you select an integration but don’t see your files, your account may not be connected. To connect your account, go to Settings > Integrations.

Syncing your integrations

Syncing helps you maintain version control and ensures that users in your project only see the drawings you give them access to. For example, if a drawing is updated in its source location, such as SharePoint or Google Drive, those updates won’t appear in Rover until you sync them.

You can sync your integrations by going to Settings and selecting the Integrations tab, or by following the steps below.

When a drawing is updated in the integration it was shared from, you’ll see a notification in the Connected Accounts menu in Project Rover.

To sync a connected integration:

  1. Go to Settings, then select the Integrations tab.
  2. Under Connected Accounts, select the integration you want to sync.
  3. Select Sync and then Save Changes.

Your drawings in Rover have been synced with the drawings in the integration.

The changes you make to your drawings in Rover aren’t automatically saved to their source location. To update your drawings in their source location, you’ll need to export your drawings from Rover to the integration.

Exporting project data to an integration

To export data or drawings from Rover:

  1. Go to Settings, then select the Project Settings tab.
  2. Under Export Project Data, select one of the following options:
    1. Request Download Link: This lets you select files to download on your device. You’ll receive a download link via email when your files are ready.
    2. Export Project Data: This lets you export your data to integrations or Studio Projects.

Once you’ve exported your drawings or data from Rover, import the files to their source location as you would any other drawing. If you give the Rover drawing the same name as your source drawing, the edited drawing will replace the original.
