Problem

When attempting to print with the Bluebeam PDF Printer, the Bluebeam Stapler, or a Bluebeam plugin, the Save As dialog doesn’t display and/or a PDF can’t be generated.

To solve the issue, follow the steps listed below based on whether or not you’re experiencing the problem with the Bluebeam PDF Printer or a Bluebeam plugin with a supported third-party program.

Solution

Bluebeam PDF Printer

If you’re creating PDFs with the Bluebeam PDF Printer or the Bluebeam Stapler function in Revu:

  1. Select Start and type Bluebeam Administrator into the search bar.
  2. Right-click Bluebeam Administrator and select Run as Administrator.
  3. Select the Printer tab in the Bluebeam Administrator and make sure the Prompt for file name and Open in viewer options are selected.
  4. Right-click the Reinstall Printer button and select Uninstall Printer.
  5. After the printer has been uninstalled, select Reinstall Printer to reinstall it.
  6. In the Port Monitor section, located in the lower-right of the page, select Restart.
The Port Monitor won’t work unless the BBPrint.exe process is running. Please do not remove this from the list of startup items.
  7. Select Apply and OK to apply your settings and close the Bluebeam Administrator.

Bluebeam Plugins

For Revu 21 users, you must have a Core or Complete subscription to fully access Bluebeam plugins.

If you’re using a Bluebeam plugin for Office, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Revit or SolidWorks:

  1. Complete the steps listed above in the Bluebeam Administrator.
  2. Then open the file in Office, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.
  3. On the ribbon, select Bluebeam > Change Settings.
  4. Ensure the Prompt for file name and Open in viewer options are selected.
  5. Select Create File.

The first time you try to create a PDF after these solutions, you might see Save As dialogs for previous PDF conversions that didn’t complete. Select Cancel to abort the ones you don’t want.
