Improvements to the Revu Update Process
Note: The process for updating Revu has changed. Please read this article carefully to ensure you download the correct installation file.
How do I update Revu?
A new streamlined updating process was introduced in Revu 2016.5.1, which uses a smaller file to update Revu instead completing a full installation. For example, at 44 MB, the Revu 2016.5.2 update is 97% smaller than the full installer. This greatly reduces the amount of time needed to update your software.
The quickest and easiest way to download the correct file is to click Help > Product Updates inside Revu. This will look at what you have installed and display a link to the correct file to download.
- Open Revu.
- Click Help > Product Updates .
- Click on the link to download the correct file you need to update Revu.
Note: The update forces Windows to restart when it’s finished, so please make sure you’ve saved all of your work and closed all open applications before you begin.
How do I install Revu for the first time?
If you’re installing Revu for the first time, download the full installation of Revu 2016.5.2.
Can I still directly download the file?
Yes, you still have the option of directly downloading the files, but we encourage you to update using Product Updates in Revu to ensure that you get the correct file. What you need depends on the installed version of Revu and if you have 64-bit or 32-bit Windows.
- If you have Revu 2016.5.0 or 2016.5.1, you can install the update.
- If you have Revu 2016.1 or earlier, you need the full installation.
There are separate updates files for 64-bit and 32-bit Windows. The same update file is used for Revu 2016.5.x Standard, CAD and eXtreme. Click the link below that matches your Windows installation:
Note: The update can only be installed onto Revu 2016.5. Earlier versions will still need to download the full installation.
How can I find out if I have 64-bit or 32-bit Windows?
If you don’t know which version of Windows you’re running, the best way to get the correct update is by using Help > Product Updates .
Windows 10 and 8.1
- Right-click on Start and click System.
- System type will show 64-bit operating system or 32-bit operating system.
Windows 7 SP1
- Click Start, right-click on Computer and click Properties.
- System Type will show 64-bit Operating System or 32-bit Operating System.
