Error: “converter.warning.symbolic.font.ocr”

Problem

When using File > exportExport to convert a PDF into another file type (i.e., Word or Excel), you receive the following error message:

file conversion ocr error

Cause

This error is related to corrupt font issues.

Solutions

To troubleshoot, try one or both of the workarounds below.

Bluebeam PDF Printer

  1. Select File > print Print.
  2. Under Printer, select Bluebeam PDF.

  3. Select Print.
  4. Choose where to save the new version of the PDF via the File Explorer.
  5. Select Save.
  6. After the new version of the PDF automatically opens in Revu, select File > exportExport and try the file conversion again.
    You may need to use Document > pages_rotate_pages Rotate Pages to rotate the PDF to its original orientation.

Reduce File Size

  1. Open the PDF you’d like to convert to a Word or Excel document.
  2. Select Document > reduce_file_size Reduce File Size.
  3. Under Output Options, move the slider all the way to the left towards Quality.

  4. Select Save.
  5. When asked if you’d like to overwrite the existing file, select Yes.
  6. Select File > save_as Save As.
  7. Rename the file and choose a save location.
  8. Select Save.
  9. Open the new version of the PDF and try to convert it using File > exportExport again.

When attempting to convert a PDF to a Word or Excel file, you receive an OCR error. Here’s how to troubleshoot it.
