Access files outside the Bluebeam app

Applies to:

  • Bluebeam on an iOS device
  • Bluebeam on an Android device

Open and mark up PDFs stored locally on your device, a third-party document management system (DMS) using the iOS File Picker, or through email.

Manage Project files from a DMS app

To open and edit a file from a DMS app, follow these steps:

  1. From theDevice tab, tap the action icon.
  2. Tap the DMS app you want to use from the list of connected DMS apps under Locations.

  3. Browse to the file and tap it.

The file will open in the Bluebeam app and you can create markups using the editor.

To save your edits, follow these steps:

  1. Tap the menu icon.

  2. Tap Save to File.

  3. Tap Move.

  4. Choose from the following options:

    • Replace: Overwrites the original file with the new edited version. The new file will be available through the Bluebeam app and the DMS app.

    • Keep Both: Keeps the original file and saves a copy of the edited version.

    • Stop: Cancels the action.

Not all DMS apps allow you to save a file directly and have it automatically synced. Some require you to manually upload the edited version to replace the original file.

Open Project files from an email

To open a Project file sent through an email, follow these steps:

  1. Open the email and select the PDF attachment to preview.

  2. Tap Share > Share File via.

  3. Tap the Bluebeam app.

  4. If the Bluebeam app doesn't appear, tap More and locate the Bluebeam app.

Any edits you make can be saved locally to your device and viewed from theDevice tab.
