Send Studio Projects documents to Docusign
Applies to:
- Bluebeam on the web
When you need signatures on Studio Project documents, you can send files directly from Studio Projects to Docusign without switching between platforms or managing multiple file versions.
To send files to Docusign, you need a Core and Complete plan and a Docusign account.
Send a document for signature
- Open your document in Studio.
- Check out the document (or make sure you're the one who has it checked out).
- Select the three-dot menu
next to the file name at the top.
- Select Send to Docusign. Documents must be under 25MB and fewer than 2,000 pages. Files larger than this won't send to Docusign.
- Choose your Docusign connection:
- If you already have a Docusign account, select Connect To Existing Docusign Account.
- If you need a new Docusign account, select Create New Docusign Account.
Your document opens in Docusign where you can add signature fields, set up signers, and send it out for approval. For detailed instructions on using Docusign eSignature, see the official Docusign documentation.
Track signature progress
Once you've sent a document to Docusign, you'll see a status indicator in Studio Projects:
- Created: The document was sent to Docusign but not yet distributed for signatures.
- Sent: The document is out for signatures.
- Delivered: A signer has opened the document.
- Declined: A signer declined to sign.
- Voided: The signing process was canceled.
- Digitally Signed: All signatures have been collected.
To check your document in Docusign, select the three-dot menu next to the status indicator and click View on Docusign.
To cancel the signing process, select the three-dot menu next to the status indicator and click Void Signing. The document must be unsigned or partially signed. This action can't be undone.
Get your signed document back
- When signatures are successful: The signed version automatically syncs back to Studio Projects as a new revision. The document gets checked in automatically, and you'll see "Automatic check in" in the revision history.
- When signatures are declined: Your document stays checked out. You'll need to go to Studio Projects on the web to manually void the workflow before you can make changes.
- When signatures are voided: If you void the signing process from DocuSign, the document remains checked out but you can resubmit it to DocuSign from Studio Projects on the web.
Once a document is successfully signed, you can't check it out or view the markups history anymore. You also can't edit the file in Studio Projects on the web, though you can still make changes using Revu.
