Attachment tool
The Attachment tool allows you to attach a file to a PDF. An icon is placed on the PDF that a user can click to open or save the attachment.
The Attachment tool creates a separate attachment. To embed medio in a markup, see Embedded Media Markups.
- Open the PDF.
- Go to Tools >
File Attachment. - Browse to and select the desired file, then select Open. Attachments are made individually, so only one file can be selected.
- Select a place on the PDF to place the Attachment icon.
Attachment icons can be moved after they have been placed. Click and drag the icon to move it.
To open an attachment, double-click or select the Attachment icon, and select Extract on the Properties panel. A dialog appears prompting you to either open or save the attachment.
To attach a note to an attachment, right-click it and select Open Pop-up Note. Notes attached to attachments are functionally similar to the Note Tool.
The appearance of an attachment icon is configurable, including the color and opacity of the icon as well as the icon graphic.
To change the appearance of an attachment icon, select the markup and select the Properties panel. Go to Window > Panels > Properties to show the Properties panel if it is hidden. Several properties will also be available on the Properties toolbar when the markup is selected.
