Batch Crop and Page Setup

PDFs do not need to be open in Revu when the batch process is run. If a document is open in Revu, any changes resulting from the batch process will be made to the document, but the document will not be saved or checked in (if relevant); the user will need to save and check in the document manually. If a document is not open in Revu, and it is not checked out/locked by another user, changes will be applied and saved to the document automatically (without opening the document in Revu).

1. Go to File > Batch > Crop & Page Setup. The Batch: Crop & Page Setup dialog box appears.

   

2. Add PDFs to be processed using one (or both) of the following methods:

   • To add all PDFs that are currently open in Revu, click Add Open Files.
   • To select files from a local or network drive, click Add.

3. PDFs are processed in the order they appear in the File List. To change the order:

   • Click and select the desired sort option to sort the files automatically.
   • Select a file you wish to move and click either to move it up in the list or to move it down in the list to reorder the files in the list manually.
   • Select a file and click to remove it from the list.

4. To process only certain pages of a PDF, select it, then click the Pages menu and choose from the following:

   • All Pages: Sets the range to all pages.
   • Custom: Sets the range to a custom value. When this option is selected the list becomes a text box. To enter a custom range:
     • Use a dash between page numbers to define those two pages and all pages in between.
     • Use a comma to define pages that are separated.

     For example: 1-3, 5, 9 will include pages 1, 2, 3, 5 and 9.

5. From the Apply To menus, select among Even Pages Only, Odd Pages Only or Odd and Even Pages and among Landscape Pages, Portrait Pages or Landscape and Portrait Pages. These selections work in conjunction to form the filter, so any pages to be processed must meet both criteria selected.

6. Click OK. The Crop and Page Setup dialog box appears with the Page Setup tab selected.

   

7. Select an option from the Media Size dropdown menu, if desired.  This is analogous to the size of the paper the drawing is to be printed on, even if it is not to be printed. If Auto Scale is enabled, the drawing will automatically scale up or down to fit the new media size, as appropriate.
   • In addition to several, standardized sizes, there is also an option for Custom Page Size. Select this to define a custom size, then select Portrait or Landscape and set the Width and Height fields manually.
8. Adjust the Scale manually, as desired.
9. To adjust the drawing on the page along the X or Y axis, set the Offset X or Y values appropriately.
10. To rotate the drawing on the page, set the Rotation.
    • To set the Rotation according to a line on the drawing, click Get Line and click and drag the desired line on the drawing.
11. To reset the Offset, Scale, and Rotation settings, click Clear.
12. To center the drawing, click Center.
13. To fit the drawing to the media, select one of the alignment options from the Fit to Media dropdown menu.

14. Click OK.

7. Select the Crop Pages tab.

   

8. Select Crop Box from the Select Box dropdown list.
9. Set the Top, Bottom, Left, and Right margins by entering the appropriate values in their respective fields.
   • To adjust all margins equally, select Set Proportional and an adjustment to any margin will automatically affect the others. If there are already values entered for the margins when Set Proportional is selected, all the margins will automatically be set to be equal to the largest value.
10. After cropping a region of a PDF page, the page will automatically shrink to the size of the cropped region, resulting in a smaller page. If this is not desirable, select the Page Setup tab and make the desired adjustments. See Page Setup for Multiple PDFs above for more information.
11. Click OK.
