Cropping Pages

Bluebeam Revu includes a cropping tool that allows you to remove unwanted parts of a PDF page.  PDF/A documents or documents that have been certified or digitally signed cannot have pages cropped.

  1. Open the PDF you wish to crop and make sure the desired page is active in the main workspace (that is, it's the one currently being viewed). This tool automatically works on the PDF page that is currently active.

  2. Go to Document > Pages > Crop Pages. The Crop and Page Setup dialog box appears with the Crop Pages tab selected.

  3. Select Crop Box from the Select Box dropdown list.

  4. Use one of the following methods to determine the crop area:

    1. Set the Top, Bottom, Left, and Right margins by entering the appropriate values in their respective fields.
      • To adjust all margins equally, select Set Proportional and an adjustment to any margin will automatically affect the others. If there are already values entered for the margins when Set Proportional is selected, all the margins will automatically be set to be equal to the largest value.
    2. Click Get Window. The dialog box disappears to reveal your document. Click and drag to define the crop area. The dialog box reappears.

  1. To apply the crop area to specific pages of the PDF (be default, only the page that is currently active is affected), choose one of the following from the Pages dropdown list:

    • All Pages: Sets the range to all pages.
    • Current: Sets the range to the current page only. The current page number will appear in parentheses, for example, Current (2) if page 2 is the current page.
    • Selected: Sets the range to the current selection. This option only appears if pages were selected prior to invoking the command.
    • Custom: Sets the range to a custom value. When this option is selected the list becomes a text box. To enter a custom range:
      • Use a dash between page numbers to define those two pages and all pages in between.
      • Use a comma to define pages that are separated.

      For example: 1-3, 5, 9 will include pages 1, 2, 3, 5 and 9.

  2. After cropping a region of a PDF page, the page will automatically shrink to the size of the cropped region, resulting in a smaller page. If this is not desirable, select the Page Setup tab and make the desired adjustments. See Page Setup for more information.
  3. Click OK.
