Punch and field issues workflows
Applies to:
- Revu 21
- Bluebeam on web and mobile
We recommend performing these tasks using the Field Issues profile, if available to you.
In Bluebeam Revu for Windows, and do the following:
-
Prepare your documents
-
Combine, extract, rotate, and delete pages as needed
-
Reduce the document file size
-
Create page labels—Page labels won't display in Bluebeam on web and mobile but will show in Revu and can be used to sort and filter markups in the Markups List. This can provide helpful information when generating the punch list.
-
Add Spaces—Spaces won't show up in Bluebeam on web and mobile, but markups placed in Bluebeam on web and mobile in an area of the drawing that has a space will recognize the space in the Markups List in Revu. This can provide helpful information when generating the punch list.
-
Add custom columns as needed—Add custom columns to capture any additional data that may be required for punch and field issue items.
-
-
Ensure drawings are uploaded to a Studio Session and all team members are invited.
-
Confirm permissions are set appropriately for collaboration.
-
Open the Studio Session in Bluebeam Revu on your Windows device.
-
Navigate to the proper drawing sheet.
-
Denote issues with markups, using one markup per issue. Use premade markups from Tool Sets to denote the problem clearly.
-
Add photos to markups as needed using Capture.
Photos using Capture are not visible in Bluebeam on web and mobile. To show photos in Bluebeam on web and mobile, the photos should be placed directly on the drawing (Tools > Markup > Image) and not be attached to a markup with Capture. If photos are added directly on the drawing, avoid adding additional annotations near the photo to ensure a clean Markup List. -
Set the Status of the issue.
-
Open the Studio Session in Bluebeam on your iPhone or iPad.
-
Navigate to the proper drawing sheet.
-
Denote issues with markups, using one markup per issue.
-
For non-photo issues, use text boxes or callouts to describe the problem clearly.
-
For photo-related issues, place a photo markup directly on the drawing at the issue's location. Avoid adding additional annotations near the photo.
-
Add comments to the image to clarify issues. Comments added will appear in Revu as replies to the markups or image.

Alert the person responsible for addressing the issue to the specific markup on the drawing:

Select the person to alert. A notification will be sent to that person in the Studio Session, and an email will be sent notifying them of the alert.
-
-
Generate a Markup Summary Report (PDF or CSV). Set your desired settings under Columns, Filter and Sort, and Output.
If running a PDF report on files from a Studio Session, the Append and Hyperlink to Current PDF option is not available. To append, download the files and run the Markups Summary Report from the locally saved files. -
Save the Configuration File.
-
Send the report to your team by uploading the report to the Studio Session or emailing the report.
-
Update the status for each markup as issues progress (for example, Open → In Progress → Completed).
-
Collaborate with team members in real time or offline until all issues have been resolved. If collaborating offline, changes will sync upon reconnection.
