How to create grouped markups

Grouping markups is useful for combining multiple markups that you use often. Follow these steps to create your own markups:

Step 1: Draw using markup tools

Draw the elements for your custom markup. You can use Circle Icon Circles, Rectangle Icon Rectangles, Lines Icon Lines, or any other markup.

Step 2: Select and group the elements

Now select all of the elements. There are a few ways to select multiple elements:

  • Hold Shift, and select elements one at a time.
  • Use the Select Arrow Icon Select tool to draw a rectangle around all the elements.
  • Use the Revu Lasso Icon Lasso tool to select elements that cross an irregularly-shaped area.
  • Select multiple items in the Markups List IconMarkups List.

Once you select all the elements, you're ready to group them. Right-click one of the elements, and select Group from the dropdown. The blue boundary lines and handles for each element change into a single boundary line and set of handles after they're grouped.

How to rename grouped markups

Grouped markups each appear as "Group" in the Subject column of the Markups List. This can be confusing if you've grouped multiple markups and need to distinguish them from one another in the Markups List. You can rename a grouped markup by following these steps:

  1. In the Markups List Icon Markups List, locate the grouped markup you want to rename.
  2. Under the Subject column, double-click its default subject name. The grouped markup will also highlight on the page when you select it.
  3. Enter the new Subject, and press Enter or click outside the text box.

Now your grouped markup will have a custom name.

How to save markups

Any markup or group of markups can be saved in the Revu Tool Chest Icon Tool Chest and reused. You'll see your newly created symbol in the Recent Tools section of the Revu Tool Chest Icon Tool Chest. Click and drag the symbol into the My Tools section, or any of your other tool sets. Now the markup is available for use at any time.

If you want to save a markup and have it show up with your custom Subject in the Markups List every time, make sure to rename it before proceeding. Otherwise, it'll show up as "Group" in the Markups List Icon Markups List.
