Back up, reset, and restore Revu settings

Applies to:

  • Revu 21

It's important to back up your customized preferences, profiles, tool sets, and stamps for two key reasons:

  • Data protection: Keep your settings safe in case of computer issues or hard drive failure
  • Device transfer: Move your custom setup when you get a new computer

This article shows you how to back up your Revu 21 settings, transfer them to a new device, and restore them when needed.

Back up your preferences

Your preferences backup creates a .zip file with your Revu 21 settings. Even if you're not switching computers right now, it's a good idea to save this backup somewhere other than your local hard drive.

To back up your preferences, sign in to Revu 21 and follow these steps:

  1. Go to Revu > Preferences.
  2. On the left sidebar, select Admin.
  3. Under the Options tab, select Backup.
Digital IDs and stamps aren't included in backup files and need to be transferred separately.
  4. Save the backup .zip file in an easy-to-access location.

Manual backup option

You can also back up the entire settings folder manually or add it to your backup routine. The folder is located at:

C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Bluebeam Software\Revu\21

Back up profiles

Custom profiles contain your personalized tool configurations. To export them, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Revu > Profiles > Manage Profiles.
  2. Select the profile you want to export.
  3. Select Include Dependencies to include tool sets, bookmarks, hatch patterns, and line styles.
  4. Select Export.
  5. Save the profile .bpx file in an easy-to-access location.
  6. Repeat for any additional profiles you want to back up.

Back up tool sets

To export custom tool sets, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Tool Chest panel.
  2. Select the Settings icon at the far right of the panel for the tool set you want to export.
  3. Select Export.
  4. Save the tool set file in an easy-to-access location.
  5. Repeat for any additional tool sets you want to export.

Back up stamps

Custom stamps require manual file copying:

  1. Open Windows File Explorer and go to: C:\ProgramData\Bluebeam Software\Bluebeam Revu\21.
  2. Copy the Stamps folder to a new, easy-to-access location on your computer.
  3. Zip the copied Stamps folder.

If your stamps are not found here, they may have been moved. You can find their location in the Preferences menu:

  1. Select Revu > Preferences.
  2. On the left sidebar, select Admin.
