Enabling SharePoint integration through Internet Explorer

Bluebeam Revu can be integrated into the Internet Explorer browser so that an "Edit" option appears in the SharePoint dropdown. This requires making a modification on your locally hosted SharePoint server.

This integration is only supported on SharePoint 2007, 2010 and 2013.

This is a global change which therefore can't be made on a site-by-site basis.
  1. Download the icpdf.gif icpdf.gif (right-click > Save link as), and then add it to the correct folder for the version of SharePoint that you are using:
    • SharePoint 2013: %COMMONPROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\15\TEMPLATE\IMAGES
    • SharePoint 2010: %COMMONPROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\14\TEMPLATE\IMAGES
    • SharePoint 2007: %COMMONPROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\IMAGES
  2. Navigate to the current path for the version of SharePoint that you are using:
    • SharePoint 2013: %COMMONPROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\15\TEMPLATE\XML\DOCICON.XML
    • SharePoint 2010: %COMMONPROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\14\TEMPLATE\XML\DOCICON.XML
    • SharePoint 2007: %COMMONPROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\XML\DOCICON.XML
  3. Add (or replace) the following line into the DOCICON.XML file:

    <Mapping Key="pdf" Value="icpdf.gif" EditText="Bluebeam Revu" OpenControl="Revu.Launcher" />

  4. Save the change to DOCICON.XML, then restart IIS. The service must be restarted before SharePoint users will see the change.

Accessing SharePoint without Internet Explorer integration

You can also check in, check out and view files from a SharePoint document library directly within Revu without the Internet Explorer integration. To enable the direct integration within Revu:

Revu 21 & below:

  1. Open Revu and click Revu > Preferences or press Ctrl+K.
  2. Click Interface > File Access.

Here you can add SharePoint login credentials. To setup a login click Add, choose SharePoint from the drop-down list and enter your login name and password. Revu can also store login data to suppress any future prompts.

Bluebeam® Revu® can be integrated into the Internet Explorer browser so that an "Edit" option appears in the SharePoint® dropdown. This requires making a modification on your locally hosted SharePoint server.
