View your workspace in Dark Mode

Applies to:

  • Revu 21

Use Dark Mode to apply a dark color scheme to your workspace, reducing eye strain when using Revu for long periods of time. This can be especially beneficial to users with visual impairments or sensitivities to light.

To enable Dark Mode, do one of the following:

  • From the Navigation bar, select Dark Mode.

  • Go to View > Dark Mode.

  • Press Ctrl+3.

Once enabled, Dark Mode is applied to all open files and remains active for future Revu sessions.

Standard workspace

Dark Mode workspace

When you enable Dark Mode, the following occurs by default:

  • The white background of the workspace becomes black.

  • Existing black lines and text become white.

  • The lightness of markup colors changes, but the hue and saturation don't change. This way, the original intent of all colors are captured, but they're visible against the dark workspace.

  • Photos and non-vector content aren't inverted.

  • The workspace prints with the standard white background and colors.

The line and fill colors available on the Properties Toolbar don't change in Dark Mode. When selecting a color, keep in mind that the lightness inversion will change how that color appears in the Dark Mode workspace. For example, to create white text, select the black color on the Properties Toolbar.

Customize Dark Mode

  1. Go to Revu Preferences (Ctrl+K).

  2. In the Preferences sidebar, select Advanced.

  3. On the 2D Rendering tab, change the Dark Mode settings:

    • Select Invert Photographs to also invert photos and other non-vector images.

    • Select a new Dark Mode Background Color from the palette. To reset your background color to the default, select Reset.

  4. Select OK.
