How to transfer Revu 21 settings to a new computer

With a Bluebeam subscription (Basics, Core, or Complete), you can access our desktop solution, Revu 21, via a single Bluebeam ID (BBID) account on up to five devices. If you need to access Revu 21 on a new computer, install the software and sign into your account. However, if you worked with customized settings including preferences, profiles, tool sets, and/or stamps, you must transfer them to your new Revu 21 installation. This article covers how to back up and transfer each of these elements to a new device.

Back up preferences

To back up your Revu 21 preferences, follow these steps:

  1. Open Revu 21 and sign if you haven't already.
  2. Select Revu > Preferences.
  3. In the left sidebar, select Admin.
  4. Under the Options tab, select Backup.
    Digital IDs aren't included in backup files.
  5. In the File Explorer, save the backup .zip folder in an easy-to-access location on your computer.
  6. To close the Preferences dialog, press OK.

Back up profiles

You can also export any custom profiles you want to transfer to your new Revu 21 installation. To do this:

  1. Go to Revu > Profiles > Manage Profiles.
  2. Select the profile you'd like to export.
    Before exporting, select the Include Dependencies option to include tool sets, bookmarks, hatch patterns, and line styles in the profile.
  3. Select Export.
  4. In the File Explorer, save the profile .bpx file in an easy-to-access location on your computer.
  5. Repeat steps 2 - 4 for any additional profiles you need to export.
  6. To close the Manage Profiles dialog, press OK.

Back up tool sets

To transfer any custom tool sets in your current Revu installation, first export them:

  1. Open the Tool Chest panel.
  2. Select the Settings icon at the far right of the panel for the tool set you want to export.
  3. Select Export.
  4. In the File Explorer, save the tool set file in an easy-to-access location on your computer.
  5. Repeat steps 2 - 4 for any additional tool sets you'd like to export and transfer.

Back up stamps

If you need to transfer custom stamps in your current Revu 21 installation, follow these steps:

  1. Select Revu > Preferences.
  2. In the left sidebar, select Admin.
  3. Select the Net Config tab at the top of the dialog.
  4. Copy the file path in the Stamps field.
  5. Open the Windows File Explorer.
  6. Paste the file path in the field left of the search bar.

  7. Press Enter.
  8. Move up a folder to 21.
    C:\ProgramData\Bluebeam Software\Bluebeam Revu\21
  9. Copy and paste the Stamps folder to a new, easy-to-access location on your computer.
  10. Zip the new copy of the Stamps folder.

Email backup folders and files

After you've backed up and exported your custom settings in Revu 21, email the applicable .zip folders and exported files to yourself, so you can access and save them on your new computer.

Install Revu 21 on new computer

Before you install Revu 21 on your new computer, be sure to log out of Revu 21 on your previous computer.

  1. Download the latest version of Revu 21 here.
  2. Install Revu 21.

After you've installed Revu 21, sign in with your BBID.

Import Revu 21 settings

To import your backed up settings and customizations, you must be connected to the internet to access your email and download the folders/files you emailed to yourself. See below for further guidance.

Preferences

  1. In the File Explorer on your new computer navigate to the following file path:
    C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\Bluebeam Software\Revu
  2. Replace the 21 folder with the .zip backup folder you saved and emailed to yourself. Be sure to rename the zipped backup folder 21.

Profiles

  1. Go to Revu > Profiles > Manage Profiles.
  2. Select Import.
  3. In the File Explorer, choose the profile .bpx file(s) you exported and emailed to yourself.

Tool sets

  1. In your new Revu 21 installation, open the Tool Chest panel.
  2. At the top of the panel, select Tool Chest > Manage Tool Sets.
  3. Select Import.
  4. In the File Explorer, choose the tool set(s) you exported and emailed to yourself.

Stamps

  1. On your new computer, open the File Explorer and navigate to the following file path:
    C:\ProgramData\Bluebeam Software\Bluebeam Revu\21\
  2. Replace the Stamps folder with the zipped folder that you emailed to yourself and unzip the folder.

You may need to close, reopen, and sign into Revu 21 again for all your settings and customizations to load.
