Use Smart Overlay to compare drawing sets

Applies to:

  • Revu 21
This feature is only available with a Bluebeam Max plan.
Bluebeam Max is currently in Limited Release. For more information on purchasing, please contact Bluebeam at sales@bluebeam.com. For the latest updates, click here.

Smart Overlay lets you compare two versions of PDF drawing sets and processes them to show what's changed between revisions. The comparison results display in Bluebeam on the web, where you can review changes organized by discipline and sheet. Smart Overlay allows you to see which areas of the documents changed and may need attention.

This feature is useful when you need to track design changes across revisions or identify what's different between phases of a project. This allows you to prioritize reviews of the sheets with the most significant changes.

If you don't have Bluebeam Max, use Overlay Pages to merge PDF content from two or more files into one PDF that highlights the differences between the files in different colors.

Make sure your files are optimized for this feature by following these best practices.

View your comparison results

The Smart Results page in Bluebeam on the web lists all your Smart Overlay and Smart Review results. Select your analysis by the name you entered earlier.

Your workspace will display your files with differences highlighted in red and green for version one and version two, respectively. The right panel displays your sheets organized by discipline and assigned a percentage score. Lower percentages indicate a higher number of differences between the revisions. Each discipline and sheet has its own percentage score.
