Cut content

Cut Content lets you remove graphics or text from a PDF and copy them to the clipboard, so you can paste them somewhere else. It works like taking a Snapshot and using Erase Content at the same time. Cut Content only affects the main content of the PDF, not markups—unless you’ve already flattened them. It also cuts hidden content, like items in hidden layer.

If you use Cut Content on a page with flattened markups, you won’t be able to unflatten those markups later.

You can’t use Cut Content on PDFs that are digitally signed or certified.

Use Cut Content to move content

This process cuts all content within the selection, including any that might be currently hidden from view (for example, content in a hidden layer). Use caution when using this function to ensure that you are only cutting what you want to cut.

Cut Content removes everything you select, even if it’s hidden. Double-check your selection to make sure you’re only cutting what you want.

  1. Go to Edit > PDF Content > Cut Content.
  2. Select the area you want to cut by dragging a rectangle or clicking points to make a shape.
  3. Select Edit > Paste or Paste in Place to paste the cut content as a Snapshot.
  4. Move or resize the Snapshot as needed.
