Using Integrations with Studio Prime

As of June 28, 2023, support for Revu 2019 & below has reached End of Life. Having trouble accessing Studio? Click here to find out more.

Introduction

Studio Prime is a cloud-based subscription service that provides expanded Studio functionality, including the ability to create analytics reports, manage users, set up project folder automations, and access integrations. Integrations leverage the Bluebeam Studio Prime API so that you can increase productivity and minimize the risk associated with manually transferring data between external applications.

This article is intended for Studio Prime Administrators, with the aim of explaining how integrations relate to Studio Prime and how they can be utilized to expand built-in Studio capabilities.

Access to integrations

An active Studio Prime subscription is required to gain access to integrations and the Prime API. In addition to a Studio Prime subscription, you will also need to be a designated Studio Prime Administrator. If you aren’t a Studio Prime admin and need access to integrations, reach out to your Prime account owner or another admin for help reassigning your member role.

If you want learn more about how Studio Prime can benefit your organization, see the Studio Prime FAQs.

If your are interested in purchasing a Studio Prime subscription, contact us for more information.

Available support

Due to current initiatives on building a new API framework, we’re no longer providing development consulting, or troubleshooting support for existing integrations built on the Prime API. You’ll need to reach out to the developer of the integration you’re using for any problems with the application itself. However, we can provide support for issues stemming directly from Revu/Studio. That is, if the issue can be recreated without the use of an integration, then please contact us for assistance.

Enabling an existing integration

If you’re a Studio Prime admin, you can easily enable existing integrations by obtaining an integration ID and entering it into your Prime Portal.

To learn more about enabling existing integrations, see Enabling integrations in Studio Prime.

Third-party integrations

Third-party integrations can be enabled the same way as any integrations you create. Simply visit the developer’s website and obtain an integration ID. However, be aware that Bluebeam Technical Support doesn’t provide support for third-party integrations, except to ensure that the Prime API is operating as expected. You can always find the current status of our Bluebeam Cloud Services, as well as recent history, by visiting our Status Page.

If you’re currently using a public integration created by an outside developer, you’ll be able to continue using the application so long as the developer supports it. Be sure to check the developer’s website for any changes in support or functionality.

To learn more about specific product integrations, visit the Bluebeam Marketplace. From there, you can contact our integrations team or Partners for more information about setup and activation.

Creating a new integration

To create a new integration you’ll need access to a BBDN (Bluebeam Developer Network) account, in addition to your Studio Prime subscription.

The BBDN is where you’ll be able to explore our developer resources, and learn how to use the Prime API to expand your existing technology solutions. A BBDN account will also be necessary for creating and submitting new integration requests. After receiving approval for your integration, you’ll be given an integration ID to enable your app via the Studio Prime Portal.

As with third-party integrations, we won’t be able to provide technical support for any issues arising from the development, implementation, or functionality of a new integration.

Requesting a BBDN account

We’re no longer approving new BBDN account requests. If you don’t have BBDN account and you’re looking to build an integration, please contact your Bluebeam Account Manager to discuss your options. Be aware that you’ll need an active Studio Prime subscription or be a prospective Prime customer to be considered for account approval.

Please note that a BBDN account and Studio Prime account are separate accounts. A different BBID (email address) will be required to access a Studio Prime and BBDN account, respectively.

Studio Prime API

While we’re no longer developing new features / integrations using the Prime API, you’ll still be able to take advantage of current Prime API functionality. See our developer resources to learn more about existing functionality. If you have access to a BBDN account, you’ll also be able to explore our interactive Swagger documentation through the developer console under App Management.

Future Bluebeam API

To provide future support for our integrations and developer community, we are developing a new API framework. This future Bluebeam API will provide more powerful integrations, helping to maximize productivity, improve project predictability, and minimize risk of manual data transfer.
