The Document tools provide commands and menus for working with PDFs.
Document Group in Revu Standard and CAD:
Document Group in Revu eXtreme:
Security: Launches the Security dialog box for applying password protection and other security settings to the document.
This menu provides tools to sign and validate documents, as well as management for signatures and digital ID certificates. See Working with Digital Signatures.
Sign Document: Creates a signature field and automatically attempts to sign it.
Add Signature Field: Creates a signature field without trying to sign it.
Certify Document: Certifies a document for authenticity.
Validate Signatures: Attempts to validate all signatures in the document.
Digital IDs: Invokes the Manage Digital IDs dialog box for creating and managing Digital IDs.
Trusted Identities: Invokes the Trusted Identities dialog for importing, exporting, and managing identity certificates.
The Forms menu contains commands for managing form data. It is only part of the Document group in Revu Standard and CAD. In Revu eXtreme, these commands (along with several others for form creation) are found in the Form group.
The following commands are available:
Import Data - Imports form data from an existing FDF file.
Export Data - Exports form data to an FDF, CSV or XML file.
Merge Data - Extracts form data from another PDF file.
Highlight (keyboard shortcut CTRL+F7) - Displays a blue highlight in each form field. It is active by default.
Migrate Typewritten Text - Converts Typewriter text above a form field into form data.
Reset - Clears information from all form fields.
The Pages menu contains commands for manipulating the pages of the document.
Apply Stamp: Applies a Stamp to one or more documents.
Insert Blank Page (
Insert Pages (CTRL+SHIFT+I): Inserts pages from other PDFs.
Insert Layered Page: Inserts pages from other PDFs; each PDF page will become a new layer within the current PDF.
Insert From Scanner: Opens the Scanner dialog box to acquire images from a scanner or camera. Images captured result in new PDF pages.
Extract Pages (
Split Document: Split documents into separate files based on either Page Count or File Size.
Replace Pages (CTRL+SHIFT+Y): Replaces the content of the page while keeping the markup information.
Delete Page
Rotate Pages (CTRL+SHIFT+R): Rotates one or more pages in 90-degree increments.
Crop Pages (SHIFT+ALT+O): Crops the page to remove unwanted content.
Number Pages: Changes the page labels that appear in the thumbnail view.
Click the main button to open the Header and Footer dialog box, from which you can add a new header and/or footer (if none currently exist on the page) or edit the current header and/or footer. Click the arrow to the right to invoke the Headers & Footers menu.
Add: Adds a new header and/or footer to the document.
Edit: Edits the document's existing header and/or footer.
This menu contains tools for comparing documents.
Compare Documents: Launches the Compare Documents dialog to indicate the differences between one or more documents.
Overlay Pages: Reveals the differences between the pages of two PDF files by creating a single layered PDF from those pages.
This menu provides tools to markup text, such as in a review process.
Review Text (SHIFT+ALT+R): Allows for marking text for edits without changing the text in the PDF.
Underline (U): Underlines the selected text.
Squiggly (SHIFT+U): Creates a squiggly line under the selected text.
Strikethrough (D): Strikes out the selected text without removing it.
Markup Spelling Mistakes: Identifies spelling mistakes in the PDF content.
The commands in this menu run various automated processes on the document.
Reduce File Size: Allows making adjustments to images and fonts to reduce the size of the PDF.
PDF/A: Exports a PDF that complies to the PDF/A1-b standard for archiving.
Repair PDF: Processes a PDF to address specific display issues.
Migrate Typewritten Text: Converts typewriter text above a form field into form data.
Color Processing: Opens the Color Processing dialog box to change colors of vector and raster image data in the PDF.
Translate Markups: Translates the text of markups among several languages.

Page Setup: Launches the Page Setup dialog box to define page sizes and related behavior.
OCR: Starts the OCR dialog box, which transforms an image of text into text that can be searched and copied. Available in Revu eXtreme only.
Script: Starts the Script Manager, from which you can automate various tasks. Available in Revu eXtreme only.
