Back up your Revu settings

Backing up your Revu settings creates a .zip file that you can revert to in case you experience computer issues, or you need to migrate to a new computer. Even if you’re not moving to a new computer immediately, it’s a good idea to keep a backup file in a location other than your local hard drive, so it can be restored in the event of a hard drive failure.

To back up your settings with Revu:

  1. Open Revu.
  2. Go to Revu > Preferences (Ctrl+K).
  3. From the sidebar, select Admin. Then select Options at the top.
  4. Select Backup.
  5. When prompted, save your .zip file to a secure location.

Your backup Revu .zip file has been saved. Repeat this process as necessary, such as when you make significant changes to your settings.

Digital IDs and stamps aren’t included in backup files and will need to be exported/imported separately. To learn more about backing up your custom stamps, please see this article.

Manually back up your settings

You can also back up the entire folder manually, or add the folder to your backup routine. It’s located in:

C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Bluebeam Software\Revu

Once you’re inside the Revu folder, you’ll see a subfolder labeled 21.

Reset your Revu settings

The reset settings option in Revu resets your settings to their original configurations. Before proceeding, we recommended backing up your settings in case this reset doesn’t produce the desired result.

Revu will quit and re-launch during this process. Please make sure to save any work before continuing.

To reset your settings:

  1. Open Revu.
  2. Go to Revu > Preferences (Ctrl+K).
  3. From the sidebar, select Admin. Then select Options at the top.
  4. Select Reset. Then select OK.
    Revu will now close and re-launch on its own.

Your Revu settings have been reset to their original configurations.

Restore your Revu settings

Restoring your settings lets you return your Revu configuration settings to a previous state by uploading a backup file.

Revu will quit and re-launch during this process. Please make sure to save any work before continuing.

To restore your settings:

  1. Open Revu.
  2. Go to Revu > Preferences (Ctrl+K).
  3. From the sidebar select Admin. Then select Options at the top.
  4. Select Restore. Then select OK.
  5. Locate your Revu settings backup file, and select Open.
    Revu will now close and re-launch on its own.

Your Revu settings have been restored.

Back up advanced Revu settings

You can also back up other Revu settings such as the Bluebeam Printer, plugin options, and email templates. If you haven’t changed the following settings, backing them up is not necessary.

Custom page sizes for the Bluebeam Printer and plugins

To back up custom page settings:

  1. Open the Bluebeam Administrator. In Windows, press the Windows key and type Bluebeam Administrator.
  2. Select the Net Config tab.
  3. Double-click the path next to Printer Driver.
  4. Copy the file prtPages.xml to the same location as the rest of your backup.

Custom Page setups for the plugins

To back up custom page setups:

  1. Open the Bluebeam Administrator. In Windows, press the Windows key and type Bluebeam Administrator.
  2. Select the Net Config tab.
  3. Double-click the path next to Global Page Setup.
  4. Copy the files *.plugin.xml to the same location as the rest of your backup.

Email templates

To back up your email templates:

  1. Open the Bluebeam Administrator. In Windows, press the Windows key and type Bluebeam Administrator.
  2. Select the Net Config tab.
  3. Double-click the path next to E-mail Templates.
  4. Copy all the files in the folder to the same location as the rest of your backup.
