Unsupported characters in Studio

Applies to:

  • Revu 21 & below

Problem

In Studio, you’re unable to use certain characters when naming a new session, project, folder, or file. For example, you’re unable to create a Studio Session with a / (forward slash) in the name. However, changing the character to an & (ampersand) will work.

Solution

Studio only accepts characters supported in the Windows file structure. Here’s a list of unsupported characters in Studio, so you can better standardize your naming conventions in Sessions and Projects:

  • < (less than)
  • > (greater than)
  • : (Colons are accepted, but should be avoided as they may interfere with some NTFS filesystems)
  • ” (double quote)
  • / (forward slash)
  • \ (backslash)
  • | (vertical bar or pipe)
  • ? (question mark)
  • * (asterisk)
The above unsupported characters also apply to all available Studio Prime integrations.
