Solution

These error messages can appear for different reasons. Follow the steps below to resolve these errors.

These steps must be performed as the Windows Administrator. If you don’t have access to an account with administrator permissions, you will need to contact your IT administrator.

The Bluebeam PDF printer is not installed.

Reinstall the Bluebeam PDF printer:
  1. Go to Start > ProgramsBluebeam SoftwareBluebeam AdministratorRight-click and select Run as Administrator.
  2. In the Bluebeam Administrator, click the Printer tab.
  3. If the Name field is blank, click the Reinstall Printer button.

The prtPages.xml file is corrupt.

In this instance you’ll need to locate and rename the prtPages.xml file so that the Bluebeam Administrator will create a new one. To rename and replace prtPages.xml:
  1. Go to Start > ProgramsBluebeam SoftwareBluebeam AdministratorRight-click and select Run as Administrator.
  2. In the Bluebeam Administrator, click the Net Config tab.
  3. Double-click the folder path for the Printer Driver. This opens the folder containing the prtPages.xml file.
  4. Right-click on the prtPages.xml file, select Rename, and change the file name to prtPages.old.xml and press Enter.
  5. Return to the Bluebeam Administrator dialog.
  6. In the Printer tab, click Manage Pages.
  7. In the Printer Page Manager window, click Add.
  8. In the Form Name box, type Test.
  9. Click OK. A new prtPages.xml file will populate in the Windows Explorer folder.
  10. In the Printer Page Manager window, navigate to the bottom of the window and select the Test configuration you created earlier.
  11. Click Delete.
  12. In the confirmation window, click Yes.
  13. Click OK in the Printer Page Manager window.
  14. In the Printer tab of the Bluebeam Administrator, click Reinstall Printer.
  15. Click OK to close the window.

Write Access Error

This means the current user account doesn’t have permission to add or change a printer. To resolve the issue, you’ll need to either contact your request permissions from your IT administrator to change a printer, or log in to Windows using an account with sufficient permissions and add the new page sizes.

This issue can also occur if the current user account doesn’t have write permissions for the prtPages.xml file. To resolve this issue, ask your IT administrator to change the permissions of that file.
