Performing Back Check with the Markups List

In the Back Check process, use the Markups list to keep a detailed database of issues identified by the punch team, and to keep track of progress as work is done and checked. Just click any markup in the list to jump directly to it in the workspace.

The Status column in the Markups list makes it easy to track the current status of the items identified by the punch team.

  1. Go to Window >  Panels > Markups or press ALT+L to show the Markups list if it is hidden.
  2. If you do not see the Status column in the Markups list, turn it on from the Markups list toolbar by going to Markups List > Columns > Status.
  3. Sort the Markups list by any of the columns shown by clicking the desired column header (sorting by Page is common). This can make it easier for the Back Check team as they do their walkthrough.
  4. As the Back Check team does their walkthrough, they can set the status of items in the Markups list accordingly (for example, to Accepted for items that have been satisfactorily resolved). To do so:
    1. Select the desired markup by clicking it in either the Markups list or on the Workspace.
    2. Right-click the markup either in the Markups list or on the drawing and go to Set Status > Accepted (or whichever status is appropriate).

Status changes are saved as a permanent record including the identity of the person who changed the status. So, if one person takes responsibility for a status by marking it Accepted and later someone else verifies the work is finished and marks it Complete, both Status markups remain along with the time and person who made them, creating a clear line of accountability.

Revu comes preloaded with several common statuses in the Markups list, but you might find it useful to create custom states and/or models. Fortunately, this is easily done.

In the example below, a custom model is created and then populated with custom states. To add custom states to an existing model, just skip the first few steps concerning creating a new model and select the existing model you want to add custom states to before completing the second half of this procedure.

  1. Go to Window >  Panels > Markups or press ALT+L to show the Markups list.

  2. On the Markups list, click the icon on the Status column and select Manage Status. The Manage Status dialog box appears.

    • If the Status column is not visible, go to Markups List > Columns > Status to show it.

  3. Below the Models list, click Add. The Model dialog box appears.

    The Model dialog box appears.

  4. Enter a name for the model (in this example, Valve) and click OK.

  5. Click the new model in the Models list to select it.

  6. Below the States list, click Add. The State Properties dialog box appears.

  7. Enter a name for the new status in the Name field.
  8. To associate text with this status, check Text and enter it in the corresponding field. Whenever a markup that is grouped with a Text Box markup is set to this status, the text will automatically set to the value entered here.

  9. To associate a color with this status, check Color and choose one by clicking the corresponding color box. Whenever a markup is set to this status, it will automatically change to this color.

  10. Click OK.

  11. Click OK to close the Manage Status dialog box. The custom model will now appear in the Set Status list as a submenu with its associated, custom statuses inside it.

    In the following illustration, several valve markups have been set to a Status of Open and the color of these markups changed to green automatically. One valve's markup Status has been set to Closed, so the color changed to red and the Text Box that was grouped with it automatically populated with the text "Closed." For tracking purposes, the Status column in the Markups List includes user information and a date/time stamp.
